Elderly people can also extend their lifespan by practicing dumbbells regularly!

A study published in the British Journal of Sports medicine found that the elderly could reduce the risk of death by lifting dumbbells regularly to exercise their muscles.
Data shows that both dumbbell lifting and moderate to high-intensity aerobic exercise can reduce the risk of death and cardiovascular disease death, but it does not reduce the risk of cancer death.
In addition, simply lifting dumbbells can also reduce the risk of death by 9% to 22%, such as lifting dumbbells once or twice a week, which can reduce the risk by 14%. Similarly, those who did not lift dumbbells did moderate to high intensity aerobic exercise, which reduced the risk of death by 24% to 34%.
However, those who engage in both types of exercise at the same time have the lowest risk of death. Those who achieve the recommended weekly moderate to high intensity aerobic exercise and lift dumbbells once or twice a week have a 41% to 47% lower risk of death compared to those who do not exercise.
From this, it can be seen that it is still necessary to exercise muscles with weight. The Guidelines for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Metabolic disorder by Healthy Lifestyle in China recommend that healthy adults should carry out muscle strengthening physical activities for all major muscle groups at least 2 days a week.
This study included 99713 people, 16% of whom regularly performed dumbbell lifting exercises 1 to 6 times a week. 32% of people have sufficient aerobic exercise, with 24% and 8% achieving or exceeding the recommended moderate to high intensity aerobic exercise levels in the guidelines.
